You are correct in stating that one would need extra cash when receiving service because it is a discount fee for service benefit. From personal experiences (my husband is using the dental for some serious work), if the service is expected to be costly, at the providers discretion, payment arrangements for the service could be arranged. Example, Monday my husband is getting a root canal that ordinarily would cost over $700 for $325. They are allowing him to pay half at the time and the remainder when he returns for his crown. Granted that crown will cost $563, but that beats the regular cost of $1100. A point I make to people is yes you are still paying out of pocket, but it eases the burden of paying full cost if you are one without any coverage at all. With the example above we are talking about $1800 worth of work. We have medical, but his company doesn't offer dental.

As far as the medical, not knowing how long ago you were involved I couldn't say some things for sure. But as a broker, you of course got the dental and others for your entire household at no cost. If you needed the medical, brokers got medical for a discounted rate of $40 a month, instead of the regular cost which I am sure you are aware of. Ameriplan just expanded it's medical program recently, so there are many more providers available.

One could see it as network marketing if you chose to work both sides of the business. But a broker does have the option of working only one side. There are alot of brokers who only want to enroll members. Just a thought...I too try to stay away from the mlm or network marketing concept. Just telling other people about it and them choosing to enroll, it's kind of like getting an employee, except they manage themselves.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.In the short time I have been involved there have been changes. In the long run, I expect them to be positive changes. It is important to choose the actual company's report. Some Independent Brokers have opted to register, but their report is not directly linked to the company itself.
